How to read the table

Find the column with the maximum mass of the combination and the row with your CO2 emission class. If your truck is in CO2 class 1, the Euro class also determines the rate. For CO2 classes 2 to 5 the Euro class does not count.

The statutory table also has a Euro 6+ column, with a slightly lower amount for air pollution and noise. vrachtwagenheffing.nl does not show that column and the law does not explain when Euro 6+ applies.

Frequently asked questions

Does 12,000 kg fall in the class up to 12,000 kg or from 12,000 kg?

The law uses "tot" (up to) and "tot en met" (up to and including). Tolmijden reads "tot" as exclusive: 12,000 kg falls in the class 12,000 to 18,000 kg and 32,000 kg in the class 18,000 to 32,000 kg. That reading is not stated explicitly in the law.

Why is CO2 class 5 so cheap?

CO2 class 5 is zero emission. The charge for CO2 and for air pollution is then at its lowest.

Where do these amounts come from?

From article 5 of the Dutch Truck Charge Act (Wet vrachtwagenheffing), the temporary reduction in Staatscourant 2026, 18058 and the indexation in Staatscourant 2026, 33659. The totals have been checked against vrachtwagenheffing.nl.
