Electric trucks and the Dutch truck charge
A zero-emission truck is in CO2 emission class 5 and pays the lowest rate of the Dutch truck charge (vrachtwagenheffing). If it weighs no more than 4,250 kg, it is fully exempt.

Compare on your own route
In the Tolmijden route planner you open a comparison with the other drive type under Avoid road charges smartly. For the same route and driving time you then see the charge and the energy costs of a diesel version (Euro 6, CO2 class 1) and an electric version (CO2 class 5) side by side.
By default Tolmijden calculates with 30 litres of diesel per 100 km at the average diesel price from Statistics Netherlands (CBS), and with 130 kWh per 100 km at € 0.50 per kWh, all excluding VAT. You can adjust these values yourself.
What is not included?
Tolmijden does not include charging time, driving and rest times or waiting times. The driving time is that of the route planner.
Frequently asked questions
Is an electric truck exempt from the Dutch truck charge?
Only if it weighs no more than 4,250 kg. Heavier electric trucks pay the CO2 class 5 rate.
How does Tolmijden know my truck is electric?
From the RDW data. Without a number plate you choose the drive type yourself.
