Paying

Paying the Dutch truck charge

To pay the Dutch truck charge (vrachtwagenheffing) you need a contract with a provider and an on-board unit (toll box). The unit uses satellite navigation to determine where the truck is driving; the provider sends you the invoice and passes the revenue on to the government.

Types of provider

The RDW supervises the providers.

Without an on-board unit

If you go on the road without an on-board unit, you can be fined. This also applies if you only drive on roads where no charge applies. If you disagree with a fine or a decision, you can lodge an objection.

Know in advance what you will pay

The invoice comes afterwards from your provider. If you want to know beforehand what a trip costs, for example for a quote, calculate it with Tolmijden. See calculate the Dutch truck charge and passing on the Dutch truck charge.
